The Pancake Dinner scheduled for February 13th is canceled.
We encourage our faith community to join the free dinner at St. Andrews Church, 5:30 p.m. February 13th. Here we can join with like-minded community members to welcome this time for reflection and preparation which is the season of Lent.
The expression Shrove Tuesday actually comes from the word shrive, which means to confess and receive absolution. Shrove Tuesday is observed by many to make a point of self-examination, wrongs they need to repent, and spiritual growth with God’s help. For many, pancakes have a spiritual significance: Eggs for creation, flour as the mainstay of the human diet, salt for wholesomeness and milk for purity.
