Webinars on becoming an
Open and Affirming Congregation

As our congregation explores the opportunity and feasibility of becoming an “Open and Affirming” congregation within the UCC, these online webinars would be valuable resources for our examining these issues. We have purchased a congregational “season pass” for our participation. You can watch these webinars at home, or you can join others in participating at our church with Pastor Gaye (in the lower level of the Community Hall, right outside the Sanctuary). Let us know your interest.

All the seminars are at 5 pm MT.

ONA 101: Tues, Oct 26 (repeats on Thurs, Nov 4)

This webinar explores how and why congregations can become ONA—in ways that do not divide but unite the church.

ONA and the Bible: Tues, Nov 2 (repeats on Thurs, Nov. 11)

We’ll examine the seven texts that are commonly used to condemn same-sex relationships, but these few verses shouldn’t control your church’s conversation about ONA. How can biblical values of covenant, relationship and discipleship be foundational for a successful ONA process?

1 to 1 Conversations about ONA: Tues, Nov 9

1-to-1 Conversations are a basic tool for churches navigating through potential conflict. It can engage members who otherwise might be skeptical or oppositional in your church’s ONA process and build relationship and trust in the congregation. Our goal: churches that are more unified, not divided, after the ONA journey.
